Power expressions and Examples

 

1. live in the moment - to enjoy the present time and not worry about the future

    (국문 설명) 현재를 즐기다

    → (예문)  People who live in the moment never worry about past failures or losses.

 

2. dwell on something - To obsessively think or worry about something

    (국문 설명) ~을 깊이 생각하다[곱씹다]

    → (예문) For years, Sam dwelled on the shot he missed in the championship basketball game.

 

3. make progress - to advance in the direction of one's goal

    (국문 설명) 진전을 보이다

    → (예문) Slowly, but I'm making progress.

 


 

<Power practice>

 

1. 이 순간을 즐기면 내일은 존재하지 않는다. (live in the moment)

쫑쫑의 영작: If you live in the moment, tomorrow will not exist.

Correction: When you live in the moment, tomorrow doesn't exist.

 

2. 사만다가 너랑 사귀지 않으면 뭐 어때서? 그렇게 연연할 정도로 중요한 건 아니야. (dwell on something)

쫑쫑의 영작: What is the matter if Samanda doesn't date you? It's not something you should dwell on.

Correction: So, what if Samanda won't go out with you? It's not worth dwelling on.

 

go out with…와 교제하다.
go out with somebody~와/(함께) 데이트를 하다[사귀다]
go out with horse and buggy유행[시대]에 뒤지다
go out with somebody ~와 데이트하다, 교제하다
will you go out with me? 나랑 사귀자.

 

3. 나는 하루에 적어도 500단어를 쓰기 때문에 내 소설은 항상 진전을 보이고 있다. (make progress)

쫑쫑의 영작: My novel is always making progress because I write at least 500 words a day.

Correction: I write at least 500 words a day, so I'm always making progress on my novel.
