1. hunker down - to stay in one (safe) place and focus on a single activity

    (국문 설명) 한 곳에만 있으면서 한 가지 일에 집중하다

    → (예문)  Let's hunker down and finish this presentation by tonight.

1. 쪼그리고 앉다 (=squat)
2. (어디에서 머물거나 의견을 고수하거나 할) 태세를 갖추다

2. go overboard - to do too much; to act without restraint

    (국문 설명) 너무 열중하다, 지나치게 하다

    → (예문) I know they said it's "all you can eat," but don't go overboard.

 

3. fall in love with something/someone - to start loving someone or something

    (국문 설명) ~에게 반하다, ~와 사랑에 빠지다

    → (예문) I fell in love with chocolate the first time I tasted it.

<Power practice>

 

1. 서버가 해킹된 후 보안 팀은 문제를 찾을 때까지 자리를 뜨지 않았다. (hunker down)

쫑쫑의 영작: After the server got hacked, the secure team hunkered down to find out the problem.

Correction: After the server was hacked, the security team hunkered down until they found the problem.

 

2. 기념품을 몇 개 사세요. 하지만 티셔츠와 머그잔을 너무 많이 사지는 마세요. (go overboard)

쫑쫑의 영작: Buy some souveniers.  But don't go overboard on T-shirts and mugs.

Correction: Buy a few souvenirs but don't go overboard with T-shirts and coffee mugs.

 

3. 미셸은 토머스가 색소폰을 연주하는 것을 처음 보았을 때 그와 사랑에 빠지고 말았다. (fall in love with something/someone)

쫑쫑의 영작: Michelle fell in love with Thomas when she first saw him playing the saxophone.

Correction: Michelle fell in love with Thomas the first time she saw him play the saxophone.
