    → (예문)  My archaeology professor knew his stuff when it came to Mexican pyramids.

2. return to one's roots - to go back to one's origins

    (국문 설명) 고향·본업·기초 등으로 돌아가다

    → (예문) The famous singer surprised everyone when he returned to his roots and sang in his hometown bar.

 

3. the key to success - the most important factor needed to achieve one's goals

    (국문 설명) 성공의 비결

    → (예문) The key to Martina's success was to practice twice as long as her competitors.

1. 세르지오가 보트를 만드는 것을 보면서 나는 그가 정말 능수능란하다는 것을 깨달았다. (know one's stuff)

쫑쫑의 영작: As I see Sergio making a boat, I realized that he knew his stuff.

Correction: While watching Sergio build the boat, I realized he really knew his stuff.

 

2. 우리 가족은 일 년에 한 번 고향에 가서 조부모님이 논에 벼를 심는 것을 돕는다. (return to one's roots)

쫑쫑의 영작: Our family returns to our roots once a year and helps my grandparents planting rices. (쫑쫑: 콩글리쉬 난발같은 느낌이지만 일단 도전!)

Correction: Once a year my family returns to our roots and helps my grandparents plant their rice field. (쫑쫑: 의외로 비슷하게 썼다는.. ㅇㅎㅎ)

 

내친 김에 쫑쫑이 사전을 한번 찾아봤습니다. "벼를 심다"

쫑쫑의 영작: If I knew the key to success, I already resigned and became rich. (쫑쫑: 오늘 'would'를 자꾸 놓치네요. 음.. 복습 필수!)

Correction: If I knew the key to success, I would alreay be retired and rich.
