Power expressions and Examples

 

1. something goes through - a transaction or communication is normally completed

    (국문 설명) 통과되다, 성사되다, 결제되다

    → (예문)  I don't know why my call won't go through.

 

2. all set for something - prepared for something

    (국문 설명) ~ 준비가 다 된

    → (예문) After we hire a photographer, we will be all set for the fashion show.

 

이건 여담.. 아니 사담? 아주 예전에 외국분들과 회의를 하면서 제가 썼던 표현이었는데 아직까지도 잊혀지지 않는 걸 보면 확실히 한번이라도 입 밖으로 말을 해봐야하나봅니다.. ^^

 

3. can't live without something/someone - 영어 설명

    (국문 설명) ~ 없이는 못 살다

    → (예문) After I finally bought a smartphone, I realized I can't live without it.

 


 

<Power practice>

 

1. 내 검색 요청이 처리가 안 돼요. 제 인터넷이 안 되는 것 같아요. (something goes through)

쫑쫑의 영작: My searching request doesn't go through. It seems like an internet problem.

Correction: My search request wouldn't go through. I think my Internet isn't working.

 

2. 나는 회의 준비가 됐다고 생각했는데 그때 상사가 일정을 다시 잡아 버렸다. (all set for something)

쫑쫑의 영작: I thought I was all set for the meeting, but my boss rescheduled at the moment.

Correction: I thought I was all set for the meeting but then my boss rescheduled it.

 

3. 사무실이 집에서 너무 멀어서 나는 차 없이는 살 수 없다. (can't live without something/someone)

쫑쫑의 영작: Because my office is far from my house, I can't live without my car.

Correction: Because my office is so far away from home, I can't live without a car.
