Power expressions and Examples

 

1. check something out - to look at something of interest

    (국문 설명) (흥미로운 것을) 살펴보다[보다]

    → (예문)  I want to check out that new spy movie tonight.

 

2. time to kill - extra time with nothing scheduled

    (국문 설명) 때워야 하는[남아도는] 시간

    → (예문) John had time to kill before his meeting, so he went for a run.

 

3. as long as - if this/that is the situation

    (국문 설명) ~하는 한

    → (예문) As long as you live in this house, you will follow my rules.

1. 제인은 방문하는 도시마다 중고 상점에 가 보는 것을 좋아한다. (check something out)

쫑쫑의 영작: Jane likes to check out used bookstores in every city she visits.

Correction: Jane likes to chek out second-had stores in every city she visits.

 

2. 방학이라 저는 시간이 남아돌아요. (time to kill)

쫑쫑의 영작: I have a lot of time to kill because I am in a vacation.

Correction: I'm on vacation, so I've got nothing but time to kill.

 

3. 당신은 나와 함께 있는 한 안전할 거예요. (as long as)

쫑쫑의 영작: As long as you are with me, you will be safe.

Correction: As long as you are with me, you'll be safe.
