1. fill in for someone - to substitute for someone
(국문 설명) ~를 대신하다
→ (예문) If you want to take tomorrow off work, you need to find someone to fill in for you.
2. step up - to take on additional responsibilities
(국문 설명) 나서다, 책임을 맡다
→ (예문) When the head chef got sick, his assistant stepped up and ran the kitchen.
3. leave someone high and dry - to leave someone in a difficult situation
(국문 설명) ~를 어려운 상황에 처하게 두다
→ (예문) I was forced to leave Jack high and dry because he refused my help.

1. 내 상사는 케이트가 병원에 입원해 있어서 내가 사무실에서 그녀 대신 일을 해야 한다고 했다. (fill in for someone)

Correction: My boss said I have to fill in for Kate at the office because she's in the hospital.
